Well what a week it has started to be! On Monday I and Lousie Thomas from Health Boxes travelled up to Nacarrow Farm for the Choose Cornish awards. We were nominated for the Best Business Collaboration award which to our surprise we won! For the past year Louise has used Polgoon as a healthy hub which means that people come and collect their meat and veg boxes from our deli. Not only has this provided help and guidance for each business, we have encouraged local people to shop locally and buy Cornish. The support to local business has continued to grow throughout the year by Louise forming relationships with Macfaddens Butchers, Polgooon supplying fresh bread from Nick and the Polgoon deli steadily growing.

The initiative Choose Cornish was started by Cornwall Food and Drink and the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce in order to celebrate companies that ‘buys local’ and aim to make a difference in the community. We are both thrilled and proud to have won this award and we hope that our partnership will continue to grow along with our contribution to the community.

To continue the excitement of this week, we are also ending the week on a high with the Great Cornish Food Festival! Polgoon will be hosting a wine and cider bar at the festival which is taking place at Lemon Quay Truro on Friday the 26th through to Sunday the 28th. The festival is the greatest gathering of all the best food and drink products for the whole year and we will also being seeing a range of activities and talks from some of Cornwall’s food greats!

We will be running a competition on the Saturday so look out for that, Ben will also be giving a wine and cider master class on the deck at 2.30pm. Who's attending?

See you at the weekend Emma x
