Tom brown’s award-winning restaurant Cornerstone in London launched an exclusive gin created by Cornish craft distillers, The Wrecking coast distillery. We normally talk about our wines and ciders, but this is worth a mention as it’s made from our Polgoon apple juice.
Head Distiller, Avian Sandercock talks about it being a Juniper forward gin with coriander notes: “We take a strong citrus route using fresh Seville orange, Sicilian lemon, lime and Pink grapefruit peel and balance with hedgerow rosehil and rowan berry”.
Whilst this worked well, they wanted to bring a fruity freshness and a harvest flavour which they felt wasn’t quite there yet. In a rethink, they decided to try an approach that was outside the norm.
Craig Penn partner comments “…we ran Polgoon orchards best cloudy apple juice in our still to deliver autumnal apple to the back of the palate and hint of sweetness in the finish”. It worked …. delivering a unique gin that Tom was after.
From 15th July we have this wonderful product available added to our growing Cornish gin wall in our shop at Polgoon. Whilst not on our website we are always happy to help with a telephone order if you are not lucky enough to be popping into Polgoon in the near future.
We love making cocktails with this new Cornerstone Gin and some of the other offerings. Rose Gin from Tinkture is one of our favourites. As well as the jubilee spritz created by Caspyn gin just down the road from us with our sparkling Aval for the Jubilee Pool in Penzance.
